Andria is an experienced researcher and practitioner of public health. Her research domains span infectious and chronic disease epidemiology, disease surveillance, environmental health, and program evaluation. Andria is working with the Indian Health Service (IHS) to utilize electronic health records for public health disease surveillance and support the gathering and reporting of data regarding sexually transmitted and other infectious diseases in American Indians and Alaska Natives. Her current focus is to achieve impact through policy change and to use data to set priorities as well as monitor and measure progress to inform policies that improve human health and eliminate health disparities.

Previously, Andria was a Health Systems Integration Program Scholar for the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and assigned to the New Jersey Department of Health. Andria evaluated the hepatitis B birth dose public health program and led an intervention to improve vaccination rates. She also examined the collaboration between partners and data utilization in county community health assessments.  From 2009-2011 Andria served as an Officer of CDC’s Epidemic Intelligence Service (EIS). During this time Andria identified infectious disease outbreaks (including H1N1, mumps, and measles) and preventable risk factors for outbreaks, analyzed surveillance data, implemented measures to monitor these diseases and made significant contributions to the reduction of transmission of diseases. She also participated in international deployments in Togo and Haiti where she taught epidemiology skills and assisted to institute post-disaster surveillance.

Andria has a PhD in Molecular Medicine from the University of Maryland, and an MPH in Biostatistics and Epidemiology from the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. She holds certificates in public health preparedness, as well as in risk sciences and policy. She is a recipient of the Fulbright scholarship and a Howard Hughes Medical Institute grant. Andria enjoys spending her free time learning new languages and traveling.
