Research Associate

SciMetrika has an opening for a full-time Research Associate (approximately 40 hours per week) for small and large-scale public health contract projects. The position will be based at SciMetrika’s Research Triangle Park, North Carolina office.

The Research Associate will primarily work with the Statistics & Epidemiology Team.  Selected candidates will be responsible for performing technical and administrative work in support of statistics and epidemiology contracts. The ideal candidate will have some experience in a research setting working on government-funded projects (minimum 1 to 2 years with a Bachelors degree; 0 to 1 years experience with a Masters degree). In addition, the candidate will have the opportunity to lend his/her expertise to other teams. S/he will report to the Statistics & Epidemiology  Program Manager.

 

Key Responsibilities:

1.       Participate in the management and development of multiple organizational, writing and research tasks

2.       Contribute to the writing and editing of reports, proposals, manuscripts and other documents

3.       Assist with project-specific tasks (e.g. literature reviews, data collection, health educational materials development, evaluation plans, social marketing plans)

4.       Contribute to development of proposals and to business development efforts

5.       Assist with management responsibilities involving subcontractors, expense reporting and other project components

6.       Provide program administrative support (meeting management, minutes/agenda development, materials printing/copying and other preparation activities for client deliverables and internal program materials)

Requirements:

·         Bachelor’s degree in public health, psychology, sociology or related social science field

·         Excellent written and verbal communication

·         Experience working within a team and independently

·         Excellent time management skills with ability to multitask

·         Ability to work in a high paced, consulting environment that emphasizes a customer service approach in working with clients

·         Capacity to prioritize a variety of assignments

·         Proficiency and/or familiarity in MS Office Suite, Outlook, internet search engines, and academic databases (i.e. PubMed, MEDLINE, PsycInfo)

·         Ability to follow instructions and to work with little direction

·         Experience in the sciences, social sciences or public health

·         Experience in government contracting preferable

·         Interest in qualitative and quantitative research

·         Promptness and strict adherence to deadlines

·         Maturity, reliability and strong interpersonal skills

·         Experience working with virtual teams in multiple geographic locations preferable
